MIT comparison analysis of Deep Sea Systems' TH-2100 Thruster

Dear Chris,

We are extremely impressed with the performance of your thruster with the Parker Drive Blok controller. The system proved to be very reliable and provided huge thrust with a quick response time. We tested the thruster in the propeller tunnel under a variety of conditions. With the Drive Blok controller, the thruster would start quickly even when the propeller was being back driven by the flow at 4 m/s. We estimated the propeller efficiency and the overall system efficiency using the our force and flow speed measurements together with the torque and angular speed estimates from the WinControl software. We found the electrical system efficiency to be very high, always above 80% and typically above 90%. The propeller efficiency was decent, with a maximum of at least 41%. The dynamic response of the system was impressive. A step from zero thrust to full thrust takes 0.75 seconds, and a step from full thrust forwards to full thrust reverse takes 1.1 seconds.

We would be happy to give this product a strong recommendation.
